How to obtain pre-authorisation

Do you need to be admitted to hospital / clinic or need to go for advanced radiology, radiotherapy?
YES
Contact our Quality Healthcare Reference Centre at 0800 22 0106 between 08:00 and 16:00 weekdays only. Please have the following information before you call: Member number Dependant code (on member card) Date of admittance / procedure Name of the attending physician Name of the hospital / facility Reason for admittance (preferably the BHF tariff code, ICD 10 code and or CPT4 code, given by the attending physician).
Is pre-authorisation granted?	NO	Obtain the correct information or benefit shall be paid subject to funds available in your JBA (Savings Account - not threshold contributing).
YES

Important to Know

Please be advised that although BESTmed has a written agreement with private hospitals to charge the BESTmed tariff, this is not the case with regard to the individual medical practitioner who will be treating you while you are hospitalised.

You are advised to confirm with these individual providers whether they will be claiming higher fees than the BESTmed rates. Click here to see these rates.

If they do not claim higher fees, BESTmed will pay the amount equal to the BESTmed tariff to you personally, and you will then be required to settle the outstanding account with the service provider.
