Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide.

The Movember Foundation started in 2003 with 30 men and has grown to 5 million supporters.

Men’s health issues are important to Bestmed. We offer both preventative measures and treatment programmes to manage ailments and diseases.

These include:

  • Health Assessment (previously HRA): a Health Assessment is one of the most widely used screening tools in the field of health promotion and is often the first step in multi-component health promotion programs.
  • PSA screenings: A blood test called a prostate specific antigen (PSA) test measures the level of PSA in the blood. PSA is a substance made by the prostate. The levels of PSA in the blood can be higher in men who have prostate cancer. The PSA level may also be elevated in other conditions that affect the prostate.
  • Oncology Care Programme: Bestmed provides oncology benefits applying evidence-based medicine principles and considering affordability across the different benefit options. We have appointed the Independent Clinical Oncology Network (ICON) for all our Scheme options as the Designated Service Provider (DSP).
  • Mental health matters: We cover consultations with a psychologist and social worker at 100% Scheme tariff.
