Zerina Richards, our Advisor Sales Channel Manager started her journey with Bestmed almost four years ago. Get to know her a little better.
- How long have you been at Bestmed?
I started at Bestmed in February 2018.
- What encouraged you to join Bestmed?
I had engaged with the Scheme in my capacity as an Advisor and I was very happy with the product offering, as well as the access to all departments when I needed assistance. I had already created working relationships with many of the staff members prior to my appointment at Bestmed.
- What is the best thing about your job?
The best thing is engaging with my team and advisor community daily, setting goals and targets and achieving these on a regular basis. I also enjoy learning from the experiences, whether it be positive or negative experiences. I believe that we have to continue learning and growing and try to utilise opportunities for growth. I love to see team members grow and develop as well.
- Give us a short bio about your career history.
My career began many years ago as a nurse at Addington Hospital in Durban. I moved to Johannesburg in 1996 and worked at Garden City Clinic where I was offered an opportunity to join their Billings team. This opened doors into the administration side of healthcare. I then moved onto Qualsa Healthcare, Prosperity Health and then on Genesis Healthcare Consultants and Alexander Forbes.
- Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I have been a counsellor for Operation Smile where I engage with mum’s who have babies born with harelip and cleft palates as my son, who is now 24 years old, was born with a harelip and cleft palate and syndactyle of his hands and feet.
- What are your hobbies?
Gardening and watching sports.
