How long have you been at Bestmed?

I joined Bestmed on 1 August 2021. I’m still very new!

What encouraged you to join Bestmed?

I was starting to feel like my career was stagnating, and that I needed a new challenge. I have come to learn that Bestmed is a company that offers opportunities for professional development and that innovation is welcomed and appreciated, which really drew me to the organisation.

What is the best thing about your job?

Working with people and building long and enduring relationships with them to change lives.

Give us a short bio about your career history

I started working in 2016 when I was elected by TUT to join the Bankseta program for nine months. I was a Sales Consultant Intern at Nedbank. After two years, I joined Absa as a Sales Consultant and began to build a new portfolio in a different market. I then realised that I needed to develop my education further and enrolled with IBTC to study Charted Institute of management accounts (CIMA), Certificate level.

Today, I am a Heartbeat at Bestmed and am very much excited for this journey.

Do you have any special or hidden skills?

Hmm... I have been focused on my career that haven’t even thought about anything that I can do that is abnormal or rather special. So, it’s still hidden!

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

What is interesting about me is my name, Bonnita, which is one of our competitors’ names and some people call me Bonitas. And now that I actually work for Bestmed, it’s about to get even more interesting.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy playing hockey.

What is something — a food or activity — that you tried reluctantly, and it turns out you like it?

I am still struggling to figure what my favourite meal is and maybe it’s because I don’t know how to cook myself. Now that I am working from home, for the very first time in my life, I need to cook and eat my own food.

What part of your daily routine do you look forward to every day?

Recently, it has been amazing having to join my training lessons because I have grown so fond of my colleagues that I am doing training with. They’ve just reminded me that there’s still life out there and COVID-19 is not the end.

What is your favourite motto?

Living a purposeful life – “when something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favour.“ - Elon Musk
