The Bestmed TuksRace celebrated its 10th year on Saturday 15 February 2020 at the Bestmed TuksSport Athletic Stadium in Pretoria. The celebratory tone for the day was set by the release of 100 balloons by Bestmed CEO, Leo Dlamini, along with Madelein Barkhuizen (Bestmed Executive Manager: Sales and Marketing), Prof. Tawana Kupe (University of Pretoria’s Vice Chancellor) and Prof. Vollie Spies.
Celebrations continued throughout the day. Leo Dlamini and Madelein Barkhuizen both finished the 10km race strong. Madelein, on finishing the race and looking as fresh as when she began, stated that “It was one of the most scenic and iconic runs in Pretoria.”
The day ended on a high at the prizegiving. Othaniel Phahlane won the open men’s 42.2km race with a time of 2:28:30, while Patience Khumalo came first in the open women’s full marathon with a time of 3:18:33. Bestmed’s sponsorship was acknowledged with a gift from UP.
