A well-established family practitioner preferred provider (PP) and specialist designated service provider network (DSP) footprint enables Bestmed to provide our members with top-quality healthcare services at affordable prices across all member options.

A DSP is a healthcare provider that is considered the preferred choice for members’ healthcare needs, specifically related to prescribed minimum benefit (PMB) conditions. By making use of the DSP, members will have no or minimum co-payments. A PP network is a less formal network and not specifically related to PMB conditions.

The choice of a healthcare provider lies with the member and/or the treating healthcare professional, however using a non-DSP may result in the member being liable for additional costs. Claims from DSP providers and product suppliers will be paid at the contracted tariff subject to the Scheme option benefits and limits or PMB protocol.

The Bestmed family practitioner PP network consists of 4 200 individual and group practices. The Bestmed DSP network, consists of 24 principal specialist disciplines and sub-disciplines, with more than 2 600 individual and group practices. The details of the family practitioner PP and specialist DSP are available on the Bestmed mobile application. The mobile app is available for free download for iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play Store) smart devices.
