The TuksRace 2024 in collaboration with Bestmed was, yet again, a resounding success.

The atmosphere was palpable as running enthusiasts gathered in the early hours of Saturday, 17 February 2024 for what has become known as Pretoria’s most-loved road race.

As the starting gun sounded for the 13th year at the University of Pretoria Hillcrest Sports Campus, runners of all ages and levels of experience hit the road in the 21.1km, 10km and 5km races, as well as a 1km fun run / walk.

The main event, the 21.1km race, incorporated the Athletics Gauteng North (AGN) Championships. Congratulations to Philani Buthelezi, who won the men’s open 21.1.km race with a time of 01:09:29, and to Rutendo Nyahora, who won the women’s open 21.1km race with a time of 01:23:22. Bestmed employees were also among the 10km race runners, including Leo Dlamini (Bestmed CEO and PO), Ntando Ndonga (Executive: Legal Risk and Governance), Dr Dion Kapp (Executive: Managed Healthcare and Service Providers), Zerina Richards (Advisor Channel Sales Manager), Weatherton Nyambeu (Sales Manager) and Anni Wolf (Business Development Specialist). Madelein O’Connell (Executive: Sales and Marketing) braved the 21.1km.

Mr Dlamini also urged more families to take part in the 2025 edition of the TuksRace. “People are always overwhelmed by the idea of a race, but it’s a fun activity. If you can stand an hour, you can pretty much do a 10k or 21k. So, that’s what we want to see in 2025, more families joining in. Be active. Be the best that you can be.”
