Bestmed Medical Scheme, the fourth largest open medical scheme and the largest self-administered medical scheme in the country, received high honours at last week’s prestigious Financial Intermediaries Association of Southern Africa (FIA) Intermediary Experience Awards.

Product Supplier of the Year in the healthcare category is the honour that was bestowed on Bestmed, recognising excellence and quality in their products as determined by intermediaries. The award also celebrates the exemplary efforts in serving intermediaries and, by association, South Africa’s financial services consumers.

“It’s clear that when you put your heart and soul into what you do, the results always speak the loudest. Bestmed and our people give their all to deliver medical aid that is ‘Personally Yours’, and I could not be prouder of every single one of our Heartbeats for the part they played in bringing this award home for us,” says Leo Dlamini, Chief Executive Officer at Bestmed Medical Scheme.

“I would also like to thank the intermediaries for recognising our efforts and choosing us for this great honour. Your support and role in taking the Bestmed brand to consumers helps us achieve our commitment to delivering quality healthcare to all our members and contributes to our sustainable growth.

The FIA Awards, which boast a 20-plus-year history, are among the most prestigious and well-known events on the financial services industry’s annual calendar. The process that determined this year’s FIA Awards winners stands out as the most comprehensive in the association’s history, with more than 2 900 FIA intermediary members completing the online survey and rating 6 875 product providers across nine awards categories.

The annual FIA Awards is the culmination of months of planning to connect and celebrate product suppliers in the industry, who support intermediated distribution in South Africa.
